Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about CPAP Clarity.
What is CPAP Clarity?
CPAP Clarity is a free, browser-based tool that reads your ResMed CPAP SD card data and turns it into clear charts, metrics, and plain-English insights. It works entirely in your browser, so your health data never leaves your device.
Is CPAP Clarity really free?
Yes. Every feature is free with no subscriptions, no premium tiers, and no feature gating. The site is supported by contextual affiliate links and ads on article pages. Your dashboard and data analysis are completely ad-free.
What CPAP machines does it support?
CPAP Clarity supports ResMed AirSense 10, AirSense 11, AirCurve 10 (including AutoSet, CPAP, VAuto, ASV, and ST modes), the AirCurve 11 ASV (Adaptive Servo Ventilation for central or complex apnea), the BMC E-20A and BMC G3 A20, the React Health Luna G3, and the Löwenstein Prisma Smart (APAP and CPAP, a popular European device). More devices are on the roadmap. If you have an unsupported machine, you can share SD card data on our feedback page to help us add support.
Does it support pulse oximeters or wearables?
Yes. The Wellue O2 Ring (overnight pulse oximeter) imports via its ViHealth CSV export. The Oura Ring imports via the account-export ZIP from Oura's Membership Hub. Both join to your CPAP nights by date so you can see SpO2, sleep stages, HRV, readiness, and body temperature alongside the same night's AHI, leak, and pressure on the dashboard and in the AI-export. All processing stays in your browser; no Oura account login or API calls are involved.
Is my CPAP data private?
Yes. All data processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your SD card files are read locally, parsed locally, and displayed locally. Nothing is uploaded to any server. There is no account, no cloud storage, and no way for us to access your health data. The SD card data itself contains only pressure, airflow, and event counts. There is no personally identifiable information in it.
How do I import my CPAP data?
Remove the SD card from your ResMed machine, insert it into your computer using a card reader, then drag and drop the DATALOG folder onto cpapclarity.com. The entire process takes under a minute. You can also import from a phone using a USB-C SD card reader.
Do I need to create an account?
No. CPAP Clarity requires no account, no email address, and no personal information. Just open the site and import your data.
What data does CPAP Clarity show me?
You get a detailed AHI breakdown by event type (obstructive, central, hypopnea), leak rate charts, pressure charts, respiratory rate, tidal volume, a therapy score from 0 to 100, smart insights in plain English, and downloadable PDF reports.
What is the Therapy Score?
The Therapy Score is a composite number from 0 to 100 that combines four dimensions: AHI control (40%), usage hours (30%), mask seal quality (20%), and nightly consistency (10%). It gives you a single number to track your therapy over time.
Can I use CPAP Clarity on my phone?
Yes. CPAP Clarity runs in any modern mobile browser. You will need a USB-C or Lightning SD card reader to connect your CPAP SD card to your phone. See our guide on importing CPAP data on your phone for step-by-step instructions.
How is this different from myAir?
ResMed's myAir app gives you a simplified daily score but hides the underlying data. CPAP Clarity shows your full raw data: event-by-event breakdowns, pressure and leak charts, respiratory metrics, and detailed PDF reports. It also works offline and never uploads your data.
How is this different from OSCAR?
OSCAR is a powerful desktop application with a steep learning curve. CPAP Clarity provides similar data depth through a simpler web interface that requires no installation. OSCAR supports more machine brands and offers waveform-level data that CPAP Clarity does not currently display.
Can I download a report for my doctor?
Yes. CPAP Clarity generates PDF reports with your AHI breakdown, key metrics, therapy score, time-series charts, and plain-English findings. These are formatted for clinical review so your sleep physician can quickly scan and act on the information.
What happens to my data when I close the browser?
Your imported data is stored in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) so it persists between visits on the same device and browser. You can clear it at any time. The data is never sent anywhere.
Is CPAP Clarity a medical device?
No. CPAP Clarity is an informational tool that helps you understand your therapy data. It does not diagnose conditions, recommend treatment changes, or replace professional medical advice. Always consult your sleep physician for clinical decisions.
Will removing the SD card affect my CPAP machine?
No. Your ResMed machine continues recording to its internal memory while the SD card is removed. Just remember to reinsert the card when you are done so future nights are saved to it.
