What Is SleepHQ?

SleepHQ is a web-based CPAP data analysis platform that launched as a modern alternative to desktop tools like OSCAR. It lets you upload your SD card data to the cloud, view charts and metrics in your browser, and track your therapy over time. The platform supports multiple CPAP brands and has built a community of users who share insights and compare notes.

SleepHQ offers two tiers. The free tier tracks one CPAP or oxygen device and shows your most recent 30 days, including breath-by-breath charts with event flags. The Pro tier costs $14.90 per month, with a discount for annual billing, and adds unlimited history and devices, advanced trends, PDF reports with AI insights, Apple and Google Health sync, community access, and API access. They also sell a dedicated SD card uploader device that automatically syncs your data to the cloud each morning, so you never have to remove your card manually.

It is a well-built product with a loyal user base. But there are two things worth thinking about before you sign up: where your health data goes, and what it costs you.

The Privacy Question

When you upload your CPAP data to SleepHQ, your health information leaves your device and lives on someone else's servers. Your nightly breathing events, apnea counts, leak rates, therapy pressures, and usage hours are all stored in the cloud. SleepHQ processes this data, indexes it, and keeps it available for you to access through their platform.

For some people, that is perfectly fine. Cloud storage is convenient, and SleepHQ has a privacy policy outlining how they handle your data.

But CPAP data is health data. It reveals intimate details about your body while you sleep. In the United States, CPAP data uploaded to a third-party web app is generally not protected by HIPAA the way data at your doctor's office would be. Once it is on someone else's server, you are trusting their security practices, their business decisions, and their long-term viability as a company.

CPAP Clarity takes a fundamentally different approach. All data processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your SD card files are read locally, parsed locally, and displayed locally. Nothing is uploaded. There is no server-side processing, no cloud storage, no account, and no way for us to access your health data, because we never receive it. If your events are mostly central rather than obstructive, you will see an explanation of what that means for your therapy. The most pressing items are listed first.

Therapy Score. The history view calculates a composite therapy score from 0 to 100 that weighs AHI control, usage hours, mask seal quality, and nightly consistency. This gives you a single number to track week over week, making it easy to see how your numbers change over time.

What SleepHQ Does Better

Being fair matters. SleepHQ has real strengths that CPAP Clarity does not match today.

Fisher & Paykel support. SleepHQ reads the Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle and ICON Auto, and CPAP Clarity does not read Fisher & Paykel machines. Both tools read ResMed, Philips DreamStation, and Löwenstein Prisma machines. CPAP Clarity also reads BMC and Yuwell machines, which SleepHQ lists as not yet supported, as well as the React Health Luna G3. Cloud sync and access from anywhere. Because your data lives on their servers, you can access it from any device without re-importing. If you check your data from multiple computers or share access with a family member, cloud storage is genuinely convenient. CPAP Clarity stores data in your browser's local storage, which means it is tied to that specific browser on that specific device.

Auto-upload hardware. SleepHQ sells a small device that reads your SD card automatically and uploads data to your account. If you want a truly hands-off workflow where you never touch your SD card, this is a real convenience that local-only tools cannot replicate.
